Chard Chénier
His is a distinctive style due to both his virtuosity and musical innovation on the harmonica that differentiates his sound from all other harmonicists.
Since 1965 Chard performs as a singer-songwriter, harmonicist and studio musician (Vancouver, San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Paris). In the late 60’s he was the accompanist for Glenn (Phynix) Copeland (clubs, television & CBC radio – New York, Montreal, Toronto). In 1969 he meets with, and is mentored by Sonny Terry, King of the Country Blues Harmonica.
Chard relocates to Vancouver in 1970 where he performs with various folk, C&W, R&B, electric and acoustic blues groups while continuing his a studio musician career.
In the 80’s he returns to Montreal where he joins the IOU’s (Spectrum, Ontario Music Festival, local clubs). A Special Guest at the Harmonica Extravaganza Sherblues Festival in 2017, Chard is also invited to perform with Powder Blues at the Mont Tremblant Blues Festival’s opening concert (Scène Stage Place des Voyageurs). He records several albums; radio play includes a Black Label commercial and tracks broadcast to promote his albums. Chard’ studio includes a wide variety of genres: blues, country, jazz, rock, etc. From 2014 onwards he records YouTubes and performs with ‘PosaBlue’ band and The Hard Knocks.
